Our Research

Research or evaluation projects may be able to be performed by a mentor working with a mentee, and these projects might be identified by the mentees themselves or external ‘commissioners’.

Research helps mentees nurture their potential and achieve goals by taking advantage of various opportunities. This can mean securing employment, being awarded scholarships or grants, or securing project funding. There is a large jump between master’s and doctoral levels, and mentees may seek support in this journey, as a major component of the professional doctorate is a detailed thesis.

This suggests that there is a real need for a practice-based intermediate award between the master’s and doctoral levels, which does not fit into the traditional university award structure.

Needs Assessment

To assess the needs for Peoples-Praxis, surveys were performed among alumni of Peoples-uni (an extinct mentoring programme offering free courses) and members of AFREhealth (The African Forum for Research and Education in Health). The main results are shown in the graphs below:
